Reelworld relieces the next generation of classic hits. Introducing K-Hits, Chicago!

The new sound of Classic Hits. The K-Hits package takes the signature sounds of the format and brings them to life using today’s production techniques.

Retro synths, 80’s guitars and that big stacked vocal sound come together to create a Classic Hits package with the excitement and emotional impact of the songs we love – without sounding dated.

K-Hits has always been a little more cutting-edge, a little younger, a little different than the average Classic Hits station. Our new jingles elevate the sound of K-Hits and make us a true pioneer of the format.”

Todd Cavanah Vice President of Programming CBS Radio/Chicago

"CBS Evening News" debuts new theme music

Posted by CBS News. Here’s the story.

“CBS Evening News” debuts new theme music

At the beginning, in the late 1940s, the news provided the music for “CBS Evening News.”

In the late 1980s, CBS News commissioned the first theme music for the Evening News.

For the next two decades, that theme, with small variations became the signature sound of CBS News.

In 2006, the broadcast got a makeover — and so did the theme, courtesy of Oscar-winning composer James Horner.

In 2011, CBS News returned to the classic theme.

But this year, we decided it was time for a new beginning.

We commissioned composer Joel Beckerman to put it together. And he did. Much like we assemble the broadcast together each day.

Piece by piece it came together — until it emerged as one musical, newsical symphony.

Listen to the new theme here.

I think that this is a good theme. It’s nice to see and hear a change from CBS. Man Made Music did a great job!

Also, this has been a good theme for election coverage.

Bottom line. CBS, you have something here!
